Indonesia Needs To Open Tourism Centers Abroad

YOGYAKARTA, April 29 (Bernama) — Indonesia needs to open tourism information centres abroad to support tourism promotion in various sectors, Indonesian Tourism Humanity Friendship Forum (Fosipa) chairman H Sarbini said here on Wednesday.

“It is time for the government to open tourism information centers at every Indonesian embassy to net more foreign tourists visiting Indonesia,” Antara news agency quoted Sarbini as saying. (more…)

No Takers For Route From Bali To Darwin

The Bali-Darwin route abandoned by flag carrier Garuda Indonesia seems to have no takers.

Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said on Tuesday that he regretted the flag carrier’s April 2 decision to stop all flights linking Denpasar, Bali, with Darwin, Australia, but added that the ministry would offer the route to other airlines . (more…)

TRUNYAN, Indonesia (AFP) - Bali’s rapid development as a tourist destination has transformed the island’s culture, but in the isolated village of Trunyan the dead bear witness to centuries of unbroken tradition.

Govt Ministers to Act as Tourism Agents

All government officials, including ministers and state institution chiefs, are expected to serve as Indonesian tourism promotion agents, Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said over the weekend.

“We have distributed circulars to all ministers and state institution leaders asking them to diligently promote Indonesia as a host country for international events,” Wacik said, adding that the events could be meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, collectively known as MICE, or even sports competitions and music performances. The scenery on the 40-kilometer journey from Bandung to Sumedang must be among the most consistently attractive anywhere across Java. The rolling hills, if not carpeted in tea plantations, are covered by thick jungle-like forestation. At times the hills rise steeply, creating dramatic peaks and valleys. Views back across country roads already traversed practically compel a pause for appreciation. At the end of this pleasant trip is Prabu Geusan Ulun, a small, charming museum in the center of Sumedang. RI gears up for first ever marine festival

North Sulawesi’s Manado and Bitung are preparing to host a major marine festival in August this year, which is expected to see some 7,000 sailors from more than a dozen countries as participants.

The first-ever Sail Bunaken marine festival is scheduled for Aug. 12-20, and will feature a range of marine-related activities, including a sailing competition, diving and fishing contests, a seafood festival and a yacht rally, as well as an Indonesian Fleet Review to display warships from several countries,. New agro-tourism village in Karangasem

The Bali provincial administration is currently developing an agro-tourism village project in Besakih, Karangasem regency, 75 kilometers east of Denpasar.

The project, overseen by the provincial agricultural agency, is scheduled to be completed within the next five years.

It covers a 200 hectare plot of land belonging to the Besakih community. (more…)
