Int’l youth conference in Indonesia to provide recommendations for UNESCO

The International Youth Conference (IYC) 2009 held in Indonesia’s Banten province starting Tuesday will result the Banten Declaration to be submitted at the UNESCO’s international session in France’s Paris next Monday.

Minister for Youth and Sports Adhyaksa Dault said after opening the conference that the Banten Declaration would be born from four day-discussion. (more…)

Star hotels and luxury villas are likely to gain profits from the Idul Fitri long weekend as occupancy rates reach more than 90 percent, a hotel executive confirmed.

Djinaldi Gosana, executive director of the Bali Hotel Association (BHA), which overviews 100 members of four and five-star hotels in Bali, said that most clientele would check in this weekend (Sept.18) and spend the rest of the long holidays on the island. (more…)

50.68 Pct Raise on French Tourists’ Visit to Bali

DENPASAR, KOMPAS.com - The number of tourists from France and some other countries visiting Bali had been constantly increasing.

“The 59,595 French people visiting Bali in the January-July 2009 period constituted an 50.68 percent increase compared to those coming to the island paradise in the same period last year,” head of the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu said here Tuesday. (more…)

Despite the dry season, the south east of Bali has experienced cold and wet weather due to the Madden-Julian oscillation (MJO) in the upper stratosphere, a weather official said Tuesday.

Homebound travelers begin to flock to Gilimanuk

Thousands of travelers from all over Bali began their journey home through Gilimanuk Harbor in Jembrana regency, West Bali, on Tuesday morning.

An estimated 2,900 motorcycles crossed the Bali Strait using ferry services from Gilimanuk to Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java. (more…)
