104 Tourism Villages in Indonesia by 2010

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik aims at developing 104 tourism villages by 2010. “The tourism village development program has been in progress for two years, and last year 10 villages have been set as the pilot project” he said, in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The tourism village program is considered as an effective way to increase the people’s welfare by developing the tourism character of the village. (more…)

Indonesia’s Batavia Air to start operations at Changi Airport

Indonesian carrier Batavia Air commences operations at Singapore Changi Airport tomorrow, 25 November 2009. Batavia will operate daily flights between Singapore and the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Semarang. The eighth new airline to commence operations at Changi Airport this year, Batavia’s commencement of operations signals its confidence in the traffic potential between Singapore and Indonesia. Indonesia to host int’l meeting on traditional knowledge, folklore protection

Indonesian Island Targets To Attract 2.1 Million Tourists In 2010

Indonesia’s Bali province set target to attract some 2.1 million tourists in 2010 compared with 1.9 million targeted this year, as the island’s tourist industry is rebounding, Antara news agency reported Wednesday, citing the Head of the Bali Tourism Board Ida Bagus KADE Subiksu as saying.

“We have seen substantial growth in foreign tourist arrivals in Bali for this year,” said Subiksu. (more…)

The Bali administration has set an ambitious target of attracting 2.1 million foreign tourists in 2010.

Head of the Bali Tourism Board, Ida Bagus Kade Subiksu, told reporters that foreign tourist arrivals had been increasing since early 2009. “We have seen substantial growth in foreign tourist arrivals,” Subiksu said. (more…)
